Moto3: McPhee looking to bounce back from Austria

Scottish Moto3 racer John McPhee is looking forward to bouncing back from a disappointing weekend at the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand prix with a stronger result this weekend in Brno.

Always knowing that the fast track would be a struggle on the underpowered Peugeot machine, McPhee did his best to move forwards – but was left settling for 24th.

“The Austrian Grand Prix was a difficult weekend from the start to the end. We mainly worked with some settings to the bike and I tried some different things to improve my riding too but without making significant progress. During the race I felt a little bit more comfortable but the problem was in the beginning that some riders crashed in front of me so I lost the group ahead of me immediately.

“When Migno came passed me, I was able to took benefit from the speed of his engine. We could go together and caught the group again. In the end his rhythm wasn’t faster and every time I passed him, he re-passed me again due to his faster engine.

“Overall, it was a difficult weekend. I used the race to try and learn and try to work on my riding and to focus to improve in the next race. Fortunately we stay at the Red Bull Ring for tomorrow’s testing’s. I really look forward to it and try to understand the bike and this tricky circuit a little bit more.”
