Baz: Not much grip in the snow!

Avintia Ducati racer Loris Baz has admitted that there wasn’t much grip form his Michelins yesterday, as he rode across the snow at Andorra’s Grandvilara ski resort for the team’s unusual launch.

Taking to the slopes at the venue for this year’s FIS Ski World Cup, set to get underway today, the Frenchman was nonetheless upbeat after the event.

“The team launch has been incredible, although the grip of the tyres in the snow was not great I enjoyed riding my Ducati in those conditions. I’m really happy with my new team and I think we can do it very well this season. The last test in Phillip Island were fantastic and the difference with the factory teams are not so big as in the past.”

Teammate Hector Barbera, who also joined Baz later in the day in riding their Ducati GP14 machines through downtown Andorra, says he also enjoyed the event – although he’s now focused on more serious matters.

“Its a pleasure to be able to do our team presentation in such a great environment. The winter tests have been really good so far, the whole team is with high motivation and we are doing a great job, so I think this year we can be closer to the front. I’m looking forward to start the first race at Qatar.”

The duo are looking to make a strong start to their 2016 campaign in Qatar in a month’s time after finishing an impressive seventh and fifth respectively last time out at the Phillip Island pre-season test.
