MotoGP: Marquez swaps RCV213 for Lead 125

Marquez was left in the unusual position last weekend at the Dutch TT of swapping his Repsol Honda RCV213 during Saturday’s qualifying session for something quite different after a crash left him in a desperate race to return to track.

Crashing out before setting a fast time and with only minutes left, he ‘borrowed’ a photographer’s Honda Lead 125 scooter, making it back to the team’s garage in time to just complete a lap good enough for fourth on his second machine.

“When I crashed the first target was to arrive back in the garage. I saw one scooter with the keys in it, so….! I took it, and when I turned to come back I saw Tino the photographer and asked if I could take it! He said it was ok for me to take it, but honestly if he had said no I would have continued anyway!
