Navarro tops opening day of Moto3 testing at Qatar

Jorge Navarro has topped the opening day of moto3 testing at Qatar, finishing 0.286 ahead of Livio Loi – and only a tiny 0.006 seconds from Alex Masbou’s 2015 pole position time.

Loi made it a Honda one-two in second, after trading places with Fabio Quartararo and Niccolo Antonelli in the closing stages of the day’s final session before red flags with a few minutes left brought the day to a premature halt.

Scotland’s John McPhee, the UK’s only rider left in the class as reigning world champion Danny Kent moves up to Moto2, finished the day in 27^th, admitting that there’s more to come form this Mahindra-branded Peugeot machine.

Today was the opening day of a three-day test shared with the Moto2 machines, the final outing of the winter before next weekend’s opening round of the championship.
