Successful private test for Lowes

Sam Lowes has had a successful one-day test of the Federal Oil Gresini Kalex machine at Barcelona’s Montmelò, home of June’s Catalan round of the 2016 Moto2 championship that the Lincolnshire racer currently leads.

Taking the opportunity after the last round in Jerez last weekend to squeeze in the one-day outing, the Brit says that the team made good progress for next month’s race outing there.

“It was a really positive day: we lots of laps, trying lots of things on the bike and working again on race pace. Without pushing for a fast lap, I was faster than my best lap last year, so actually in the end we have been really fast. We also tested some new things and also others just to reconfirm them, so we are looking forward to the race here in Catalunya.”

Lowes now faces a busy schedule, flying first to Indonesia to meet the team’s sponsors and fans, before returning to Le Mans for the next round of the series, where action kicks off on Thursday.
