Moto3 world champion Danny Kent will remain with the Kiefer Racing squad for the 2017 Moto2 season, as the team makes the switch from Kalex to Suter machinery. Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter will join him at the squad as he looks to return to the front after a poor 2016.

Originally rumoured to be losing backing from the Luxembourg-based Leopard Racing outfit, but Miodrag Kotur, COO of Leopard Racing, says he’s delighted to be remaining with them.

“I am very happy with the partnership with Suter that will begin with the season 2017. We have confidence in the know-how and the desire Suter have to be competitive when they return with our riders and our structure. Leopard Racing wants to engage deeply in the World Championship and take the necessary steps to fight with the best for the title. Team Manger Stefan Kiefer, who is already working to strengthen the team with senior technicians.”

However, the switch to Suter is only part of the big changes coming Kent’s way for next year, as he replaces championship-winning crew chief Peter Bom.
