MotoGP: Marquez takes wet pole from Abraham and Crutchlow

1 of 1

Marc Marquez will start tomorrow’s Argentinian Grand Prix from pole position after coming out top of a wet qualifying session – but the real shock of the session was Pull&Bear Aspar Ducati rider taking second place ahead of Cal Crutchlow.

The Spaniard finished the session three quarters of a second clear at the front, but the Czech rider was able to just pip Crutchlow to take second place by 0.003 after the rain-struck session.

Rain man Danilo Petrucci heads the second row from Dani Pedrosa and Maverick Viñales, slowed slightly after taking to a wet track for the first time on the Movistar Yamaha but still finishing ahead of teammate Valentino Rossi, who leads the third row from another impressive Aprilia ride for Aleix Espargaró and Loris Baz.

However, with rain hitting both qualifying sessions, a number of top names struggled, with Andrea Dovizioso in 13th, Scott Redding in 15th and Jorge Lorenzo 16th. Bradley Smith will start from 19th with Sam Lowes 22nd.
