Moto2: Morbidelli back in control at Montmelò

1 of 1

Franco Morbidelli has resumed his usual position at the top of the Moto2 time sheets at the Montmelò circuit, ending the day ahead of his Marc VDS teammate Alex Marquez on the opening day of practice for the Catalan Grand Prix.

Out of contention last time out in Mugello, Morbidelli took the top spot despite a crash, stretching out a 0.3 lead over Marquez, but with a strong performance in free practice one enough to give Miguel Olivera the final spot on the provisional front row for KTM.

Takaaki Nakagami leads the second row from the Speed Up of Simone Corsi and Italian Grand Prix winner Mattia Pasini, while Jorge Navarro, Yonny Hernandez, Pecco Bagnaia and Tom Luthi filled out the top ten.

Tarran Mackenzie in his third weekend of action for the Kiefer Racing squad was 31st, 3.8 seconds off the pace of the leaders.
