Moto3: Martin claims fourth consecutive pole position

Jorge Martin has claimed his fourth consecutive pole position of the 2017 Moto3 season, taking the top spot by a huge 0.6 seconds at the Montmelò circuit, ahead of fellow Spaniards Aron Canet and Juanfran Guevara.

Martin continued his domination by breaking with tradition from the rest of the chasing pack by eschewing a slipstream from his rivals and teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, instead managing his time on clear track on his own.

The gap was tighter further back with Guevara only 0.032 behind Canet, with Romano Fenati leading the second row from Joan Mir and Marcos Ramirez. Enea Bastianini, Di Giannantonio, Suzuki and Antonelli rounded out the top ten.

British Talent Team rider John McPhee had a disastrous session, however, starting from 19th after finishing 1.5 seconds off the pace set by Martin.
