MotoGP 17 video game gets eSport championship

Upcoming video game MotoGP 17 is set to get its own eSport championship, with the winner of the series getting a BMW M240i.

Players will compete in seven different time trial events during the championship, which will be broadcast alongside the real thing. The finalists will then go head to head in Valencia in November to decide the winner. To qualify for the online challenges players must first beat pre-determined times in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, Moto3 and Moto2 classes.

The championship is exclusive to PS4.

MotoGP 17 is the latest MotoGP video game from Italian developers Milestone and will be released on June 15 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This year a new managerial career mode has been added to the game, which puts the player in the shoes of the team manager. The player will be in charge of securing sponsorship deals, hiring riders, crew, and securing the best machinery.
