Moto2: Pasini stays in control for qualifying

1 of 1

Mattia Pasini has continued his control of the San Marino Grand Prix to take pole position for his home race tomorrow, extending his resurgence in form by finishing the day 0.083 ahead of championship leader Franco Morbidelli to make it an Italian one-two at Misano.

Pasini has been on a renaissance since his incredible win last time out in Italy at Mugello, putting together a strong middle section of the 2017 season and looking like he’ll be once again in contention for tomorrow’s race.

Dominique Aegerter rounds out the front row for Suter ahead of a second row of Lorenzo Baldassarri, Takaaki Nakagami and Francesco Bagnaia to make it four Italians and three VR46 Riders Academy pupils in the top six, while Thomas Luthi, Simone Corsi and Miguel Oliveira makes it four manufacturers in the top nine on the third row.

After missing most of yesterday’s sessions thanks to a huge crash caused by a mechanical fault on the Kiefer Racing Suter machine, Brit Tarran Mackenzie was 2.4 seconds off the leaders in 31st.
