Moto2: Home favourite Pasini takes pole position

1 of 1

Home favourite Mattia Pasini has taken pole position for tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix, setting himself up in the best possible way to repeat last year’s emotional race victory at the Mugello circuit.

He finished the day’s action ahead of a surprise second place for Marcel Schrotter, with strong pace from the Dynavolt Intact rider taking him to the front row alongside Pasini and Alex Marquez.

Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia will line up in fourth ahead of Simone Corsi and Romano Fenati, while Luc Marini and Lorenzo Baldassarri make it six Italians in the top eight. Joan Mir and Jorge Navarro rounded out the top ten.

Brits Sam Lowes and Danny Kent will start from 14th and 15th, despite good pace throughout the weekend for Lowes.
