Del Conca Gresini Honda rider Jorge Martin, winner of the final Moto3 race of 2017, has topped the second day of testing at Jerez, making the most of better conditions after rain struck the usually-sunny Spanish circuit yesterday and this morning.

However, with conditions clearing in the afternoon, Martin was able to put in one of his standard issue fast laps to finish the day 0.1 clear of Enea Bastianini, with yesterday’s fastest man Aron Canet in third. Martin’s teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the top four, making it four Honda from four as rivals KTM continue to struggle.

Italian racer Marco Bezzecchi was fifth, the first of the Austrian bikes, ahead of Alonso Lopez, Niccolo Antonelli, Tatsuki Suzuki, Lorenzo Dalla Porta and Livio Loi, with the Belgian rider in tenth the only other KTM to break into the top ten. The class’s sole British rider John McPhee was 19th on the CIP Moto KTM.

Action continues for one more day tomorrow at Jerez before the series heads to the opening round of the championship in Qatar next weekend.
