Moto3: Binder takes the 2016 title after incredible battle

1 of 1

Brad Binder has become the first world champion of the 2016 season after taking the Moto3 crown he with an incredible four races left of the season.

But the South African didn’t have an easy victory, after a race-long scrap with the only men who could mathematically beat him, Jorge Navarro and Enea Bastianini.

And in the end it was Navarro who took the race win, setting up a move on Bastianini to take the win – but a back straight slipstream from the South African took him past teammates Bastianini and Di Giannantonio for second place and the title.

Scotsman John McPhee had one of his best dry races of the season behind the battle for the lead, finishing in the points in 13th.
