Moto3: Mir triumphs as Binder extends lead

1 of 1

Joan Mir has broken a the Moto3 pole position duck by converting the P1 spot into a race victory for the first time since Misano last year, taking his first Grand Prix win in a fast and frantic Austrian race.

Championship leader Brad Binder tried his best to break away from a chasing pack of Mir, Enea Bastianini and Fabio Quartararo, but was unable to stop the Spanish rookie on the last lap.

However, with a fall for championship rival Jorge Navarro and a suspension by his team for Romano Fenati, the South African now enjoys a huge 67 point lead.

Scotsman John McPhee, suffering from his usual lack of power on the Peugeot-branded Mahindra, finished 24th.
