Moto2: Lowes looking to bounce back in Sepang

1 of 1

Sam Lowes is looking to bounce back form a disastrous weekend in Phillip Island last time out with a better performance in this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

Coming off back-to-back DNFs and four crashes last weekend in Australia, he says he needs to rally himself and the Federal Oil Gresini team and take home a good result.

“After the excellent performance at Aragon we had two really bad races, so I cannot wait to arrive in Malaysia to make up for that disappointment. I have always enjoyed riding at Sepang, which is a really nice circuit. The track has been resurfaced this year, so I expect that it will be even better, less bumpy.

“Another good thing is the weather: after the low temperatures at Phillip Island it will be good to ride in hot conditions. Now we have only two races to go and I want to end the season in the best way possible, also to thank the team for their great support.”

But while the last two races might have been a total disaster for Lowes, team boss Fausto Gresini retains faith in his 2017 MotoGP rider.

“We arrive in Malaysia decided to pick up a good result after two bad races in Japan and Australia: two weekends in which we showed a lot of potential, without realize it on Sunday though. We believe we can fight for the top positions also in Sepang, where it will be crucial not to make mistakes to return to see the finish line and start collecting again points for the championship, in order to end the season on a high.”
