Isle of Man marshalling must be improved

Having been a rider in TT and Manx GP in the past when the 2007 MGP Senior was unable to run due to lack of marshals I decided that I would do my bit to help out, put a bit back in!

I attended the training course in the Isle of Man, and began at TT 2008, also marshaling for MGP 2008.

I was hoping that eventually there would be another parade lap, as this is the main reason for me being here really, but that now looks like it is lost forever. So here I am just marshaling, this year 2 weeks and an expensive boat trip.

Racing was cancalled Saturday, so Mondays race was to be run on Tuesday, I was asked to marshal on Tuesday as there was supposedly a shortage of marshals.

I turned up at Signpost to find there were 12 of us, far too many for safety, so walked back to the marshals office to inform them that I would not be messed around like this any more and to remove me from their list.

If this is the way they treat people then I am not surprised they have a shortage, but I must say 12 people at Signpost is far too many and is asking for disaster, the standard of marshaling there is poor anyway, which I have pointed out, but no one takes any notice.

Will it take a major incident to make them listen again ? Lets hope not.
