Isle of Man TT: Supersport race red-flagged

1 of 1

Today’s Supersport race has been red-flagged during the early stages of the second lap due to rain falling around the course.

Race leader Michael Dunlop had built a 10.69s cushion over his brother William when the race was stopped but it was too late for Keith Amor who had crashed at Union Mills, and Mark Parrett who went down at Laurel Bank and suffered an ankle injury.

Amor was one of four riders who slated the organisers’ decision to go ahead with the race despite damp patches from Ginger Hall to Ramsey plus an omnipresent threat of further rain.

John McGuinness, Bruce Anstey and Guy Martin, plus Amor, all questioned the safety aspect of starting the race in such difficult conditions but riders set off as planned at a rescheduled time of 12.30.

Further showers are expected today and everyone in pit lane is awaiting news of a rescheduled start time.
