Cummins pleased despite less than ideal conditions

Conor Cummins says he’s pleased with the progress he’s made on the opening night of practice for the 2015 Isle of Man TT, despite less than ideal conditions that saw the evening’s supersport session cut short before a fuel spill cancelled the sidecar practice for the third night in a row.

“In the superbike session the conditions were ok – not the best though. It was very, very windy, there was a lot of dust on the circuit, and grip wasn’t fantastic, mainly because of how much dust there was on there.

“The second session was shite weather, to be fair! It was very wet for probably half a lap, and we weren’t really able to do anything with it. We had a few little issues ourselves, but no doubt we’ll get them sorted out. We’re pleased with our progress so far though – considering everything it’s spot on.”

However, remaining on the same Honda Racing superbike and Jackson Racing supersport machine that he campaigned last year at the TT, the Ramsey native is one of the few TT riders who may stand at an advantage with less track time.

While the likes of rivals Michael Dunlop, Gary Johnson, Guy Martin and William Dunlop have all switched machines over the winter, Cummins joins Bruce Anstey and John McGuinness with the benefit of staying on machinery he knows he can make go fast around the 37.73 mile circuit.
