Mugen have unveiled their 2015 TT Zero contender, the Shinden Yon. John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey will line up on the ultra-exotic machine, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, for this year’s TT.

Speaking at the event, Mugen test rider Hikaru Miyagi says the bike is now starting to spin in corners, and that they’re delivering so much power that the next iteration will need traction control to manage the power.

The bike, which has had its bodywork tweaked for the new season, has a claimed power output of 147bhp and a maximum torque output of 162.24 lbs ft – more double the torque of a standard BMW S1000RR!

Speaking at Motorcycle Live, where he confirmed he would be returning with the team, McGuinness told MCN: “We had a bit of a journey together over the past few years! It’s ok for us to turn up for a fortnight and thrash them around, but there’s a hell of a big project going on behind the scenes too. When you work with people with the credibility they have you see that; we’re not talking about any old Japanese bloke – we’re talking about Mr Honda himself!”
