TT 2016: Hutchinson 'touched' to equal Hailwood

Ian Hutchinson has said he is ‘touched’ to have matched Mike Hailwood’s win record with victory in today’s second Supersport race.

The Bingley Bullet once again dominated to take his third win of the week, making it back-to-back Supersport doubles for the Keith Flint Came BPT Yamaha squad as well as Hutchinson’s second TT hat-trick in as many years.

Now sitting on 14 career victories, the 36-year-old now sits joint-fourth in the all-time win rankings with Hailwood and crucially sits ahead of current TT rival Michael Dunlop.

“To be anywhere near names like that is touching really,” Hutchinson said after the race. “I’m having so much fun riding again, it’s like it was in 2010. I’m loving it.

“This team is only small, just three mechanics – Chris, Grant and PJ – and Steve from Raceways putting it together for us and we’ve won four TT 600 races in a row which is incredible.

“Everyone has had problems at the TT and we’ve all had bad years and all had bad years, I’ve learned not to complain when you have a break down because I can assure you there is no worse a TT when you’re in hospital going for operations when the others are still racing!”
