NW200: Jessopp doubles up with Supertwin win

1 of 1

Martin Jessopp took his second victory of the evening in a close-fought Supertwins battle with Vauxhall North West 200 veteran Michael Rutter.

The Rider’s Motorcycles rider got a strong start to lead on the opening lap, but Rutter soon set about chasing him down on the Ryan Farquhar-run KMR machine.

Taking the lap record on the penultimate lap with an average speed of 110.132mph, Rutter closed the gap to just 0.2 as they set off on their final 8.9 miles of the course.

The duo were almost unseparated as they tipped into the final chicane, but a moment for Rutter just gave Jessopp the edge he needed to clinch his second ever North West 200 win.

Ivan Lintin completed the podium for Dafabet Devitt Racing, ahead of Dan Cooper and Derek Sheils. Adam McLean completed the top six.

James Cowton crossed the line seventh ahead of Christian Elkin, with Paul Jordan and Marty Lennon completing the top ten.
