NW200: Cowton wins Supertwins Race 2 with last corner pass

1 of 1

James Cowton took the win in the second North West 200 Supertwins race after a last lap move on the Paton of Joey Thompson at the Juniper chicane.

It was the super-quick Paton who led the way after the opening lap but Cowton pushed his way to the front on the McAdoo Kawasaki to lead the following two.

However, a strong final lap for Thompson saw him leading over Black Hill on the final lap but a brave move from Cowton on the exit of the Juniper chicane saw him pass Thompson and secure the win with McWilliams nabbing third after Thompson went up the kerb.

Christian Elkin finished fourth head of Michael Sweeney with Victor Lopez rounding out the top six.

Denver Robb finished seventh ahead of Jonathan Perry while Xavier Denis and Marty Lennon completed the top ten.

Thursday’s race winner Martin Jessopp retired on lap two.
