Foggy’s FP1 won’t race this year

1 of 1

Carl Fogarty has just announced his Foggy/Petronas team will not race in WSB this year.

For more details on Foggy’s announcement don’t miss the latest issue of MCN, out July 10.

The strain of developing a competitive race bike and producing the 75 road bikes needed to qualify under strict FIM homologation rules in just six months has proved too much.

Instead his team have decided to concentrate on a rigorous testing programme in order to have its three-cylinder FP1 race bike ready for a full season in 2003.

The delay will also give the factory responsible for building the road bike, British-based firm MSX, the time to deliver the requisite number to the FIM for the next homologation deadline on January 30.

You’ll get a chance to see and hear the FP1 at Brands hatch WSB on July 28, when Troy Corser and James Haydon perform some demo laps.
