Edwards is on an Assen mission

If there’s a fat lady warming up somewhere, someone’s forgotten to tell Colin Edwards to take the plugs from his ears. The Honda rider has scorched to the top of today’s qualifying session ahead of the Dutch WSB at Assen on Sunday, with Troy Bayliss more than a second off the pace.

Despite the cool conditions the riders were finding the twists and turns of the revised Assen Tarmac very physically demanding.

One rider who’s already feeling the strain is Britain’s Jamie Whitham. The World Supersport rider has been receiving pain-killing injections to counter the pain in his knees and arms – a legacy of the huge crash he suffered at Brands Hatch in July. But the Belgarda Yamaha rider has told MCN he’s determined to race on Sunday.
