Brits dominate at Silverstone

British riders are dominating the top of the timesheets after the first practice session in the sixth round of the World Superbike Championship, at Silverstone, with Frenchman Regis Laconi the only non-Brit in the top six.

The HM Plant Ducati team has secured the top two spots, James Toseland finishing the session with a 1:55.032 best lap, 0.311 seconds ahead of team-mate Chris Walker.

Laconi took his NCR Ducati to the third fastest time of 1:55.512 followed by British wildcards John Reynolds and Michael Rutter, with championship leader Neil Hodgson finishing sixth fastest despite a recent throat infection that left him in bed for most of the week.

Reynolds’ BSB team-mate Yukio Kagayama ended the session with the ninth fastest time behind Frankie Chili and Gregorio Lavilla. But Rutter’s team-mate Sean Emmett finished 12th behind Marco Borciani and Ruben Xaus, nearly two and a half seconds down on Toseland.

Lone Foggy Petronas rider Troy Corser is sitting in 17th place in the team’s first time racing on British soil, following team-mate James Haydon’s non participation due to neck injuries sustained in the last round at Oschersleben, Germany.
