Martin fastest in Oschersleben practice

Australian Steve Martin has gone fastest in free practice for this weekend’s World Superbike racing at Oschersleben in Germany.

Martin completed 22 laps on his DFX Ducati 999, and posted a fastest time of 1:29.323, just in front of factory Ducati rider Regis Laconi and Renegade Ducatis Noriyuki Haga.

Britain’s James Toseland was seventh quickest after 25 laps, with Chris Walker ninth and Leon Haslam 10th.

Both Laconi and Toseland are looking for good results at the circuit. Laconi took maximum points at the last round at Monza, taking the lead of the WSB championship with 120 point. Toseland meanwhile is coming to grips with the front-end problems which have hindered him in this year’s championship, just in time for the return to the scene of his maiden WSB win last year.

” Last time I earned myself a piano for my win at Oschersleben! I don’t think I’ll get anything like that if I win again, but it’ll be great to race at the circuit where I took my first victory, ” said Toseland.

” I’m a lot happier now that we found something at Monza with the help of the Ohlins technicians. I’ve got more feel at the front, we just need more rear grip, but other than that the bike is really good. ”
