Bid for Foggy's trophy

1 of 1

James Toseland could have saved himself a lot of bother – you don’t need to beat the best in the world week after week to land a WSB champion’s trophy – one of Carl Fogarty’s is up for grabs in an auction.

It’s part of a range of Foggy clobber collected by his dad George over the years and being sold off in October.

The collection contains items from Foggy’s earliest days as a novice in the 1980s to the pinnacle of his career as a four-times world champion in WSB in the 1990s.

Rostrum caps, gloves, paddock jackets, helmets and sets of leathers will be included at the Bonhams auction, which is at The Classic & Motorcycle Show in Stafford. Viewing for the auction is on October 16, with the auction itself on October 17 at 11am.

Other items include:

His ACU Restricted Road Race Licence (estimate £300-500),

His FIM framed Champion’s Certificates for the 1988 and 1989 TT Formula 1 and the 1992 Endurance Road Race World Championship (each estimated at £500-1000)

Carl’s five Isle of Man TT Silver Replicas (estimate £800-1200 per trophy),

his father George’s six bronze TT Replicas (estimate £150-300 each) and one in silver (estimate £300-500),

The 1994 World Superbike Championship Trophy commemorating the first of Carl’s unequalled four WSB Championships (estimate £1,500-£2000).
