Assen set for title tussle

1 of 1

James Toseland begins practice on Friday at Assen just eight points adrift of the World Superbike championship lead.

There are 150 points still on offer as the series enters its final three rounds – Assen, Imola and Magny Cours. And it looks like being one of the closest ever finishes to a WSB season.

Regis Laconi (Fila Ducati) currently leads by two points from Chris Vermeulen (Honda). There’s a gap of four points to Noriyuki Haga (Renegade Ducati) and another two to Toseland (Fila Ducati Fila 999F04). Of the four, only Haga has won a race at Assen before. Six riders have won individual races in 2004.

Free practice is on Friday morning with first qualifying Friday afternoon (September 3).

Second qualifying, further free practice and Superpole are all on Saturday (September 4).

Sunday’s racing is held at 12 noon (1pm UK time) and 3.30pm (4.30pm UK time).

We’ll be bringing you news from each session throughout this weekend.
