GMT94 win Le Mans

1 of 1

Reigning world endurance champions GMT94 have won the Le Mans 24 hours with riders David Checa, William Costes and Sebastien Gimbert.

The team qualified on pole position, with David Checa holding the lead until an unscheduled pit stop to repair his gear lever after four hours. By midnight the team had regained the lead, and held it to the finish. A cautionary pitstop to investigate a possible oil leak in the final hour allowed rivals Castrol Suzuki to close, but Checa was able to pip them by just over 20 seconds, at the end of 24 hours and a record 830 laps.

Yamaha also won the Stocksport class with Belgian team Acropolis finishing fifth overall with 802 laps completed.
