Yamaha retain Haga

Noriyuki Haga and Andrew Pitt will both stay with the Yamaha Motor Italia team in World Superbikes in 2006.

The updated YZF-R1 will be the base for the 2006 camapign, with initial tests taking place in valencia on November 14-15, 2005. Haga finished the 2005 season in third in the WSB championship, while Pitt finished in eighth place.

“I wanted to stay with Yamaha,” said Haga. “We had a good first year and it would have been a shame not to take advantage of all the development work we carried out. We came close to winning the title in 2000 and my motivation to become champion is still as strong as it ever was.”

The team will again be run by Massimo Meregali, and following the return of the Japanese firm to WSB in 2005, there are now base settings for each circuit.
