Nieto loses WSB ride

Fonsi Nieto has lost his place in the Scuderia SC Caracchi Ducati team, as revealed in an official press release by the team.

“Luckily Gianluca Nannelli in Supersport and Lorenzo Lanzi in Superbike are keeping the team’s results at a high level,” said Stefano Caracchi. “Once more we obtained very good results, with world rostrums and we have given great popularity to rising riders. It’s really a pity for Fonsi, as very often we have rebuilt riders in difficulties and left without teams and bikes; with Nieto we didn’t succeed.

“We wish to Fonsi Nieto to reach in the future all the sporting results that his talent and his class deserve.”

The decision is in effect from the Assen round, on September 2-4, 2005. Nieto’s best result of the year was fifth in the second race at Phillip Island in April. Since then he has finished in the top ten on one occasion, and failed to make the chequered flag eight times.
