Four in a row for Spies

Suzuki’s Ben Spies took his fourth consecutive victory in today’s (Sunday) AMA Superbike race at Fontana in California.

Spies drafted team mate and six times AMA Champion Matt Mladin on lap 18 and pulled past on the track’s banking. He finished the race 4.448 seconds in front. Third was Honda’s Jake Zemke.

Spies said: “Having a six times world champion behind you definitely puts the pressure on, I’ve been looking up to Matt since I was eight years old, but once I was in front I made one mistake then just got my head down and piled in the lap times.”
