Tough race for Hodgson

1 of 1

Britain’s Neil Hodgson salvaged a fifth place from the second race of the AMA Superbike round at Mid-Ohio, following a 16th in the first race due to mechanical problems.

Both Hodgson and team-mate Ben Bostrom were forced to enter the pits during the race on Saturday, with Bostrom dropping out of second place, and recovering to finish 20th. Hodgson pulled in on the warm-up lap for a restart following a red flag, and was classified in 16th place at the finish.

Although Bostrom crashed out of the race on Sunday, Hodgson was able to take fifth following a battle with Aaron Yates for much of the race. Suzuki’s Ben Spies and Mat Mladin took one-twos in both races, with Miguel Duhamel finishing third on both occasions.

“Certainly, we’re getting the bike to turn better and change direction better,” said Hodgson. “I feel like we are making progress. We’re looking forward to racing again in Virginia.”

The Parts Unlimited Ducati team will test at Road Atlanta this week, before the next race at Virginia International raceway, August 18-20, 2006.
