Britain’s Tom Tunstall has confirmed he will compete in the World Supersport championship this year for the Hardigne-Ice Valley Motorsport team.

Tunstall, 27 from Huddersfield, will ride a Honda CBR600RR, following on from a great season in the British Supersprot series in 2005, and highly-regarded performances as a wildcard at both the Brands Hatch and Silverstone WSB rounds. It comes as a result of increased sponsorship from Hardinge Bridgeport Machine Tools and Ice Valley Mineral Water.

As the only British rider competing in the full championship, Tunstall is already in Qatar for the first round of the series, whcih begins on Thursday, February 23. 2006., having completed just one day of testing prior to the season starting.

“It would have been nice to get more time on the bike before Qatar, but the combination of bad weather and an early start to the season meant we couldn’t test as much as we’d have liked. I’ve ridden a CB600RR for the past two years, so at least I know what to expect from the bike and with help from the Ten kate Racing engine developers I’m confident we can be competitive,” said Tunstall.

Tunstall and his team will receive additional support from the four-time championship winning Ten Kate squad.

And at the opening round he’ll be up against regular British Superbike rider Dean Thomas, plus the returnign WSB wild child Anthony Gobert. See more by following the links, right.
