Checa test crash injury

David Checa will miss the opening rounds of the 2006 World Supersport championship following a crash in testing, which has left his with a broken wrist.

The Spanish brother of MotoGP star Carlos Checa, was testing for the Yamaha GMT94 team at Albacete in Spain and had completed just a few laps on the Yamaha R1 he is due to race at the Le Mans and Bol d’Or 24 hours endurance events.

Doctors have recommended a four-week lay off, which rules out the Qatar and Australian Supersport rounds. Checa plans to return for the Le Mans 24 hours race, but as this clashed with the third Supersport round, his season debut will be at the fourth round at Monza on May 7, 2006.
