Biaggi signs up for WSB

1 of 1

After months of rumours Max Biaggi has finally signed for the Alstare Corona Suzuki World Superbike team.

The Italian lost his ride in MotoGP at the end of 2005 and failed to get a ride in 2006 but Alstare team boss Francis Batta has now welcomed him onboard.

The deal was helped along by FGSport, promoters of the World Superbike championship, who are hoping the deal will boost the popularity of the series.

Biaggi is now hoping to become the first Italian to win the WSB title: “Today is a good day,” he said. “I have always followed the World Superbike Championship and my view is that it is an extremely exciting Championship.

“I have known Francis Batta and his family for years and have a lot of respect for him as he has devoted so much time and attention to promoting the profile of the World Superbike Championship.

“I am back in competitive sport and I am happy to be riding for an official team. I am as determined as ever and really want to win the Superbike World Championship. This is probably the biggest challenge of my sporting career.”
