Bayliss out!

1 of 1

Troy Bayliss has crashed out of the opening race at Donington today and put himself out for race two as well.

The Aussie was leading from James Toseland when he crashed on lap five.

Running through Coppice corner, Bayliss shut the throttle on his 999 Ducati, and when he re-opened it mid-corner, the backend came round on him, highsiding him off.

His right hand was caught under the bike as he crashed, and resulted in him losing most of the bone in his small finger.

He has been taken to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and will undergo plastic surgery this afternoon hoping to return to the track for the next round at Valencia.
