As revealed in MCN over a month ago, the 2008 World Superbike series will race in America next year at the Miller Motorsports Park on June 1, 2008.

The World Superbike series last raced in America three years ago at Laguna Seca, but subsequently lost its date to MotoGP.

Series organisers FGSport have been working to bring their series back to the states ever since but one stumbling block has always been the circuits meeting the necessary safety requirements sufficient to be homologated by the FIM.

The event will be significant is boosting the credibility of the World Championship, which for the past three years has only had two fly away rounds with the rest of the races taking place in Europe.

The new American round brings the total to at least three alongside Doha, Qatar and Phillip Island, Australia.

FG sport president Maurizio Flammini said: “We consider Miller Motorsports Park a very interesting, fast and safe circuit with top facilities compared to the USA standard.

“Mr Claude Danis (FIM) already visited the venue and in cooperation with the circuit, agreed about the needs of the World Championship race in terms of safety.”
