Brno World Superbikes: Smrz on pole as Ducati fill seven of the top ten places on the grid

Jacob Smrz backed up his impressive free practice performance by dominating the first qualifying session by setting provisional pole position on his Guandalini Ducati.

The Czech rider completed 19 laps of his home circuit and showed good race pace in addition to a single fast lap.

Australian Troy Corser was again impressive on both a race run and a single lap to finish the day in second spot with the next three places filled with Ducati riders Troy Bayliss, Max Biaggi and Lorenzo Lanzi.

Sixth spot went to an inform Fonsi Nieto on his Alstare Suzuki closely followed by more Ducati’s – Michel Fabrizio and Niccolo Canepa.

Max Neukirchner was the second of the Alsatere Suzuki’s in ninth with Spaniard Ruben Xaus rounding out the top ten onboard yet another Ducati.
