Nurburgring World Supersport: Broc Parkes dominant in first practice

Yamaha’s Broc Parkes used his previous knowledge of the Nurburgring circuit to dominate the opening rain affected Supersport free practice session.

From the opening minutes the Australian set the pace on a dry track and at times enjoyed an advantage of over three seconds.

Fellow Australian Andrew Pitt had no experience at the German track but posted 13 laps to get within 0.8 seconds of Parkes.

Belgium rider Didier Van Keymeulen set the third fastest time on his fast Hoegee Suzuki with Mark Aitchison making it three Australian riders in the top four onboard his BE1 Triumph.

Parkalgar Honda man Craig Jones was the top Brit in seventh closely followed by Ten Kate Honda’s Jonathan Rea in ninth.

Chris Walker finished the session in 12th having run comfortably inside the top ten early on.

Tommy Hill enjoyed a solid return to the race track and after dealing with a small technical problem on his number one machine got just one flying lap before the rain came, but still managed to go 19th quickest.

Graeme Gowland ended up in 30th place onboard his new Berry Racing Honda CBR600RR.
