WSB men get Imola testing date

The World Superbike and Supersport riders will get to complete a two day test at the famous Imola circuit in preparation for the 12th round of the championship on 27th September.

The two day test will take place on the 15th and 16th of July, with Superstock 1000 riders also getting a day of testing on the 14th.

The testing is good news for the British riders in the championship as it means they will know one more circuit before the actual race.

Out of the seven Brits competing in WSB and WSS this year, Leon Haslam is the only rider with experience of the circuit having raced there in 2004 onboard the Renegade Ducati.

Imola was the venue for the thrilling climax to the 2002 season between Colin Edwards and Troy Bayliss. The circuit has a wealth of character and its combination of fast undulating and technical corners makes it a favourite with the riders.

The last time WSB raced at Imola was in 2006 when Brazilian Alex Barros won race one and Troy Bayliss secured the title before going out to win race two. Since then extensive restructuring work has been completed to meet current FIM requirements.
