Dreaming of a dream WSB paddock

Let’s face it – this year’s World Superbike grid is filled up with some pretty monster names. Ok, well at least it will be again soon once the casualties of Monza return from the hospital. BUT……

Through the gossip i am hearing on the paddock, and from reading the pages of the greatest newspaper published in the World, I am already dreaming of a 2010 World Superbike grid full of not monster names, but absolute mammoth names!

Let me paint a picture : The Brits (excluding Tommy Hill – sorry fella, but i just don’t think you cut the mustard on the World stage yet, be it on an Altea honda or the bat bike) would have had a year out there to improve on what’s been an already impressive year for most of them, and will be more enthusiastic about the championship than a 30 stone, 44 year old virgin walking through his front door to find a naked Cameron Diaz tied to his banisters screaming for the good stuff.

There will be Spies (hopefully!), Haga, Fabrizio and Biaggi all out to prove a point once more, Hopkins would have hopefully got his feet under the desk by then, and who knows – Leon Camier? Sylvan Guintoli? Maybe one of these guys will get “the call” too.

And then there’s this thought……. JT, having run out of excuses and optomism in GP may well be gracing our wonderful Superbike paddock again wanting to show who REALLY is the top Brit. And afterall, he might be pretty useless on an M1 Yam against the likes of Rossi and Stoner, but even I have to admit he’s pretty tasty on a Superbike.

And then there’s Edwards! These two, by all accounts, no matter what either of them say – obviously wouldn’t **** on one another if they were on fire, even if being offered a million squids to do so. Can you imagine the battles? I know i can.

Then finally – and this is the part of the dream which i don’t wake up from, as a dream I am sure it will only remain… But I can’t help but wonder if my favourite rider of all time might just be sitting there seeing all this going on; itching, desperately wanting to be part of it, and secretly, after talks with Davide Tardozzi and Kim, lines up on that Xerox Ducati just ONCE more to relive the wonder years, and show Edwards just what should have happened in 2002! Picture it: Bayliss, Edwards, Spies, Biaggi, Haga, Hopkins, Toseland…… it goes on, and on, and on.
