Monza WSB: Ben Spies tops superpole session

American Yamaha rider Ben Spies proved quickest in superpole at the World Superbike round in Monza, Italy.

Spies, riding a Yamaha WSB YZF-R1, lapped the Autodromo Nazionale in 1’44.073 to earn his place at the top of the time sheets.  

Italian Michel Fabrizio claimed second place for the Ducati Xerox team, leaving Ten Kate Honda Racing rider Ryuichi Kiyonari in third, six tenths of a second off the pace set by Spies.

Brit Jonathan Rea finished sixth onboard his Hanspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR.
