Monza WSB: Race one delayed after serious crash

Max Neukirchner and Brendan Roberts have both sustained serious injuries in a first corner first lap crash at Monza. Suzuki Alstare rider, Neukirchner was leading the race when he was hit by Roberts who is believed to have collided with Tommy Hill under braking for the first chicane.

Neukirchner suffered a broken right Femur and a dislocated left foot, whilst Roberts has a break high on his left Femur and also sustained a heavy blow to his throat.

Hill and BMW rider Troy Corser then tangled with both men going down and both bikes catching fire. Despite being hit by Hill’s bike, Corser walked away from the crash alongside Hill.

Factory Kawasaki man Makato Tamada also tangled under breaking and has suffered a broken left wrist.
