Yoshimura Suzuki have confirmed that they will participate in selected World Superbike races in 2010 before making an expected full time move to the championship in 2010.

MCN understands that the team that raced in the All Japan Superbike championship will enter up to four rounds of the 2010 WSB series.

There has been no confirmation as to which races they will compete in or which riders they will use, but new Worx Suzuki BSB signing Yukio Kagayama has emerged as a favourite for the wild card rides.

Kagayama is no stranger to WSB having raced for the factory Alstare Suzuki squad in WSB for the last five years and also has an intimate knowledge of the Yoshimura Suzuki team having won the prestigious Suzuka 8-hour race for the squad in 2007.

Yoshimura Japan, President Fujio Yoshimura said

“Team Yoshimura has decided to embark on a new challenge; to enter selective WSBK races in 2010 as a wild-card entrant.

£It should give us further opportunities to develop more new, high-quality aftermarket products for the worldwide motorcycle market.

“The economic situation has been very tough and it is not easy to take on new challenges, but we believe we still have to pursue these new challenges to support our ongoing development programme.”
