Crutchlow on pole, Laverty fourth

World Supersport title rivals Cal Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty will line up on the front row of the grid for tomorrows penultimate round show down at Magny Cours. In a thrilling qualifying session Crutchlow snatched pole from Kawasaki man Joan Lascorz with Ten Kate Honda rider Kenan Sofuoglu in third..

Riding injured following his high speed Imola crash and Friday free practice spill, Crutchlow rode through the pain barrier onboard his Yamaha R6 to secure his tenth pole position of his rookie season.

He said: “

“It’s going to be close tomorrow, it’s not just Laverty I have to race, Lascorz and Sofuoglu are up there and we’re all separated by about 1/10th. We’re definitely on for a good race and there’s going to be a few no mercy moves going on, that’s for sure.”

Parkalgar Honda rider Eugene Laverty also saved his best until last with an impressive run of laps at the end of the session to escalate himself up onto the front row of the grid for tomorrows 22 lap race.

He said:

“I struggled at the start of the day, but we made a big step at the beginning of the session to improve front grip and I still feel that we can go a bit further in that direction. The track has been ok to learn and having watched the DVD picking up the braking points has been easy. Because of the nature of the track you can’t really wrestle the bike around; it’s more a case of getting a good set-up.”

Britain’s Chaz Davies ended the day 15th, 1.787 seconds off Crutchlow’s pole time with wild card rider Dan Linfoot in 20th, Kev Coghlan 21st and Sam Lowes 25th.
