Parkalgar Honda boss Simon Buckmaster has told MCN that he wants his current rider Eugene Laverty to make a decision on his future before the forthcoming Imola race on 25th 27th September.

Laverty who currently sits second in the WSS championship standings 22 points off the lead has a firm offer from the Parkalgar Honda team to continue in WSS next season.

He is also is discussions with the factory Yamaha World Supersport squad to replace Cal Crutchlow as their number one rider.

Buckmaster said:

“Eugene has done a great job this year and we want to retain him, but we need a decision soon.

“W can’t be in a position where we are holding on for him to make a decision over Yamaha because if we did lose Eugene we need time to find the right rider to replace him.

“We’ve made Eugene the best offer we can and as a team he knows how it all works.

“n terms of bikes there is very little to choose between the Yamaha and our bike.

“oth are very strong packages, which have strengths and weaknesses in different areas.

“The decision is now down to him but we need to know before Imola.”
