Toseland encouraged by Misano test results

James Toseland believes that he is making good progress with the set-up of his Sterilgarda Yamaha R1 following a successful two day test in Misano this week.

The double WSB champion was able to lap significantly faster than last years lap record on race tyres and believes that the results are key as it wasn’t a good track for Yamah in 2009.

He said: It’s really encouraging to be doing these times at this track. It’s a big improvement with the bike especially as it was a real problem track for the team last year. I did a 1.36.7 on a qualifier but my times on trace tyres were about the same.

Coampared to last year the fastest lap was a 1.37.1 so we’ve gone over a second faster and we’ve been consistent as well.”

Last time out Toseland secured a double podium at Assen to move up to fifth in the championship standings.

Since the start of the season the 29 year old Brit has been plagued by grip and stability issues onboard his R1, but believes he is now much closer to the setting he needs.
