EBR continues WSB plan into 2015

Despite a tough Superbike World Championship debut in 2014 the Hero EBR team, using the 1190RX vee-twin, will continue in 2015 with an all-new rider line up and a major change in the back room operations.

The squad will still be operating from a base in Italy but this time around it will be centred on Larry Pegram’s existing AMA team, which was entered as a wildcard team at the Laguna Seca round of the 2014 championship, and scored two points.

Pegram will be one rider in the team, while the other is 2014 Evo championship challenger, Niccolo Canepa, who now swaps a Ducati Panigale for another unique 1200cc vee-twin in the shape of the 1190RX. As well as his obvious talents as a Superbike rider Canepa has been a test rider for Ducati and has recent experience of the vast majority of the tracks on the 2015 calendar.

Questions remain for some in the WSB paddock over quite how competitive the unique EBR Superbike can be at full WSB level but as in 2014 the championship mix will be greatly enriched by an American manufacturer in partnership with massive Indian bike producer Hero. With the WSB rule changes for 2015, teams like EBR should benefit from the very fastest bikes having less of a top speed advantage than was evident in 2014. Pegram was the only EBR rider to score points in 2014, in his wildcard ride at Laguna.
